The Legal Unit is headed by Mr. Craig Burton-Durham
The Unit engages in:
-
The provision of sound legal advice to the Registrar and Council
concerning the Medical Schemes Act with specific regard to matters of
interpretation ;
-
Facilitation of judicial process in matters concerning the
enforcement of the Medical Schemes Act, particularly within the enforcement
context ;
-
Provision of legal advice to the various Units within the Council
on various matters with which such units are charged
-
The provision of administrative and secretariat support to the
Council and Appeal Board with respect to hearings and other ancillary matters ;
-
Participation in trustee training workshops and seminars,
specifically within the context of governance issues ;
-
Provision of advice within the context of complaints lodged with the office of
the Registrar as and when required. |
